On the afternoon of July 29, 2025, the Second Council Meeting of the First Session of Anhui Fusion Industry Association was successfully held in the EAST control hall of the Institute of Plasma Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ASIPP). The meeting was chaired by Liu Zhihong, Secretary-General of the Association and Deputy General Manager of Fusion Energy Tech. Attendees included Yan Jianwen, Chairman of the Association and Chairman of Fusion Energy Tech; Chen Junling, Deputy Director of ASIPP; representatives from various council members of the Association; and relevant officials from the Science Center Office of the Anhui Provincial Development and Reform Commission, with over 80 participants in total.

The meeting conducted an in-depth analysis of the latest domestic and international fusion dynamics and development trends in 2025, presented the Association's progress and the advancements of its ten working groups, and discussed next-step plans and the Association's standardization strategy. Additionally, the meeting reviewed and approved the list of new members for 2025, and voted to approve the appointment of Li Yang as Deputy Secretary-General, further optimizing the organizational structure of the Association.

Yan Jianwen and Chen Junling emphasized during the meeting that, as a future industry, fusion energy requires building a robust supply chain supported by large-scale scientific facility. They also highlighted the necessity for concerted efforts from upstream and downstream entities, fully leveraging industrial clusters to accelerate the development of the fusion energy industry.

During the thematic session, attendees engaged in in-depth exchanges on "Collaborative Development Fusion Industry and Industry-Academia-Research Sectors within the Association". Corporate and university council member representatives, and industry experts actively provided suggestions, jointly exploring the future development direction of the Association and pathways for industry-academia-research integration. This resulted in a series of forward-looking and actionable recommendations.

Corporate council member representatives proposed the following suggestions: First, to optimize the membership management mechanism by regularly evaluating member participation and collaborative benefits to form a virtuous cycle of "survival of the fittest", thereby enhancing the Association's competitiveness; Second, to accelerate the building of a standardization system by implementing a three-tier standardization committee structure — "Member Architecture-Standardization Committee-Working Groups" — and appoint authoritative domestic and international experts through formal procedures to lead international rule alignment and secure global discourse power; Third, to fully leverage the Association's communication platform by collaborating with mainstream media to strengthen public awareness campaigns, comprehensively elevate societal recognition and support for fusion technology, and foster a favorable ecosystem for industrial development.

University council member representatives emphasized that higher education institutions should deepen talent cultivation and scientific innovation, cultivate interdisciplinary talents in a targeted manner to provide human resource support for industrial development, and establish dedicated mechanisms to integrate academic research achievements into the industrial supply chain, thereby promoting the transformation of industry-academia-research outcomes.

The meeting was highly efficient and pragmatic, providing a clear pathway for the Association's future development and marking a new stage in the growth of Anhui's fusion industry. Moving forward, the Association will fully leverage its platform role, incorporate recommendations from council members, and integrate resources from government, industry, academia, research, and application sectors. By improving membership management mechanisms, and accelerating the building of the standardization system, it will advance technological innovation and industrialization in fusion energy, contributing to Anhui's goal of building a globally influential fusion energy industrial cluster.
